NIHR receives Delegation of the European Union

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR)’s Chairperson HE Mr. Saeed bin Mohamed Al-Faihani received Mr. Alexis Konstantopoulos, Senior Adviser of the Delegation of European Union to the States of the Region, in the presence of Mrs. Lucia Manrique, Political Affairs Adviser of the Delegation, at the NIHR’s headquarters in Seef District.

At the beginning of the meeting, Chairperson of the NIHR welcomed the delegation and stressed the strong relations of coordination and communication between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the European Union, looking forward to opening greater horizons for cooperation and coordination between the NIHR and the European Union in all that would develop human rights work and establish the principle of respect for human rights and dignity.

Chairperson of the NIHR also gave a brief on the human rights situation in the Kingdom of Bahrain, stressing NIHR’s full support for the human rights defenders, noting the NIHR’s role in communicating with the relevant bodies to find out the most important facts and developments in order to continue the success of the march of human rights, democracy and development in Bahrain.

For his part, Mr. Konstantopoulos thanked the Chairperson of the NIHR for the warm reception and congratulated him for his election as Chairperson.  He also stressed that the Delegation of the European Union is fully prepared to support the work of the NIHR in the human rights area in order to enable it and support its efforts to achieve its goals.
